I wish that one of the interludes had been Eddie Izzard's "ya want a cup of coffay?" bit from his early 2000s stand up.
Also, I really miss Kaldi's in Kirkwood. We don't have anything anywhere near as good here, and it makes me sad.
Eddie Izzard almost made the cut, but Drew forgot to mention it. Presumably because he was too busy grumbling about my bean-grinding habits.
Way too little Eddie and way too much grumbling. I'm just agreeing, here...
Oh, and just a final thought...I'd recently happened to listen to the SYSK podcast on coffee from last year (I'm way behind). Interesting juxtaposition with your, erm...knowledge sharing. :)
I'm a little late as I missed this podcast because I was starting my new job that day, but John, he's right. You're doing it all wrong.
Also, to further elaborate on blooming the coffee: You stir the coffee grounds into the hot water for a smoother more even extraction of the coffee essence in the short amount of time that you allow the coffee to brew. Also, I've heard it's a good way to determine the freshness of your coffee. In my experience old dry beans or pre-ground coffee doesn't bloom as well as fresh beans that are freshly ground. I think a french press really allows you to love the coffee you're drinking as you're taking some care to brew it.
