Great podcast! My first "space" memory is as a small child standing out in a field with my family staring up into the starry night to watch Sputnik arch across the sky. Since then, I've learned that we were probably watching the rocket booster which was much brighter and also in orbit, but that doesn't diminish the wonder.
I'm so jealous of your name being on Mars!!
Oh wow!! What a moment! Stephen King wrote that his first memory of terror was the day he was watching Earth vs. the Flying Saucers and the theater owner stopped the movie and ran into the auditorium shouting "A Russian spaceship is hovering over us right now!" But I like your version better.
