Aw, they didn't mention the great San Francisco alt-rock band, Third Eye Blind! The more sophisticated alternative to Switchback 70, or whatever Drew's dad calls Rob Thomas's dumb band. And, they HATE each other. In fact, 3EB frontman Stephan Jenkins and Rob Thomas continue their decade-long public feud to this day, I believe.
BTW, thanks for including the song snippets. Having mostly an radio memory of many early-mid 90's songs, I didn't recognize some of the artists, but I immediately identified their contributions thanks to your impromptu vocal samples. I especially loved John's Billy Corgan. I'd really like to hear his Eddie Vedder.
Oh, just wait. We're not done with this topic quite yet...
Incidentally, Drew and I freestyled on Third Eye Blind's "Semi-Charmed Life" for about a half-hour while warming up for the show. Drew thinks his performance was better, but that's only because he actually sings the words, whereas I just ramble disconnected sounds very enthusiastically.
